I am an integrative counsellor. This means that I tailor my way of working to best suit your needs.  We can discuss this when you come for your initial session.

At all times we will work at your pace and in a way that feels comfortable for you.

If you have a specific issue to work on then a short term solution focussed approach may be helpful.  Or we may work for a longer period of time, combining traditional ‘talking therapy’ with creative approaches and mindfulness techniques to help you get in touch with your experience.  My practice is influenced by Sensorimotor Psychotherapy,  an approach developed to heal both developmental and isolated trauma and that integrates somatic therapies (working with physical sensations and movement), neuroscience (the functioning of the nervous system), attachment theory (the impact of our early relationships on our development) and cognitive approaches (our belief systems).

I work on the basis that it is possible, with practice, to develop new ways of being in the world.  However we work, together we will explore how you can become more the person that you want to be. I have many years experience of working with students in a Higher Education context and counselling a diversity of clients for a wide spectrum of issues including: anxiety, depression, bereavement, self harm, developmental and single incident trauma, self esteem, eating disorders, identity, cultural transition, academic and work stress and relationships.
