“When I have been listened to and when I have been heard, I am able to perceive my world in a new way and to go on.” Carl Rogers
Offering to build a relationship of trust within which we can explore together any difficulties you may be facing, talking to someone who is trained to listen in a non-judgmental way can help us see our problems in a different light. Many of us face periods of difficulty, depression or anxiety in our lives; asking for help at these times can bring relief from pain or from carrying a heavy weight of responsibility. Often we are able to see patterns in our relationships that stem from our childhood – behaviour that once helped us make sense of the world but which now no longer help.
Working deeply with me in a relational context offers valuable insights into how we experience ourselves and how we are in relationship with others. By unfolding these moments we can learn to find new, healthier ways of relating and being in the world.
